Some propaganda lines are ridiculous.

Some are insulting.

And then there’s this one — the mythical claim that Palestinian Arabs “took in Jewish Holocaust refugees,” only for Jews to “betray their hosts.”

This lie is so grotesquely ahistorical that you have to wonder if the people repeating it have ever opened a history book, or if they’re just high on TikTok infographics.

Let’s dismantle this garbage, cleanly and mercilessly.

1. Zionist immigration to Palestine predates both Palestinians and the Holocaust.

The Zionist movement begins in the late 1800s.

The land was then part of the Ottoman Empire. There was no “State of Palestine,” no “Palestinian government,” nothing resembling a modern national entity.

Jews immigrated under Ottoman law, not Arab hospitality.

Arabs had no authority to “invite” or “shelter” anyone.

So the idea that Palestinians hosted Jews before WWII is already dead.

We’re just getting warmed up.

2. Enter the British Mandate: Jews and Arabs both become subjects, not hosts.

After WWI, the British carve out a geopolitical entity called Mandatory Palestine.

Everybody there — Jews, Arabs, Druze, Christians — becomes a British subject, governed by British police, British border control, British immigration laws.

Which means:

Arabs didn’t get to decide who entered.

Arabs didn’t “offer refuge.”

Arabs weren’t “hosts.”

Arabs had exactly zero sovereignty.

You can’t “host” someone in a country you do not rule.

The lie dies again.

3. The photo they love to misuse proves the exact opposite.

Here it is — the famous image:

Jewish Holocaust survivors standing on a ship, holding a banner that reads:

“THE GERMANS DESTROYED OUR FAMILIES — DON’T YOU DESTROY OUR HOPES.”

Who are they pleading with?

The British.

Not Arabs.

Why?

Because the British were blocking Jewish entry into Palestine to avoid upsetting Arab leaders.

That soldier facing the ship?

British uniform. British rifle. British policy.

Arabs had no power over any of this.

This photo isn’t evidence of Palestinian compassion.

It’s evidence of British obstruction and Jewish desperation.

4. Arab leadership wasn’t welcoming refugees. They were protesting them.

The historical record is crystal clear:

Arab officials petitioned the British to stop Jewish immigration.

They rioted against Jewish communities in 1920, 1921, 1929, and throughout the 1936–39 Arab Revolt.

They weren’t offering refuge — they were demanding restrictions.

This wasn’t a warm embrace.

It was exactly the opposite.

The lie dies for the third time.

5. During the Holocaust, the British blocked Jewish refugees — and Arabs supported the blockade.

The British White Paper of 1939 slammed the doors shut on Jewish immigration during the Holocaust.

Thousands of Jews fleeing death camps were denied entry.

Some ships were forced back to Europe.

Others were sent to detention camps in Cyprus.

Arab political committees openly pressured Britain to keep the Jews out.

Calling that “sheltering Jews” is obscene.

6. In 1948, Jews didn’t “invade” a land that wasn’t theirs. They were already there.

When Britain finally abandoned the Mandate:

Jews and Arabs had been living there for decades.

The UN proposed two states.

Arabs rejected the plan and declared war.

Neighboring Arab armies invaded.

Jews fought a civil war for survival — and won.

This wasn’t betrayal of “hosts.”

This was a collapsing colonial territory splitting along ethnic lines — exactly like India/Pakistan, Cyprus, Sudan, Nigeria, and half the planet in the 20th century.

Nothing unique.

Nothing mystical.

No “hospitality” narrative anywhere in sight.

7. The brutal, unromantic, historically accurate truth

Palestinian Arabs did not “shelter” Holocaust survivors.

They did not host them.

They did not welcome them.

They had no authority to do so even if they wished.

Jewish survivors begged the British Empire — not Arabs — for entry.

Arabs, in fact, lobbied against allowing them in.

The entire myth is a political fairytale stitched together decades later by people who want moral leverage without the burden of actual history.

8. Final Verdict

This lie isn’t just annoying.

It’s historically impossible.

Before the Holocaust: the land was Ottoman, then British. Arabs weren’t in charge.

During the Holocaust: Arabs opposed Jewish refugees; Britain blocked them.

After the Holocaust: survivors weren’t “hosted”; they were resisted.

1948 wasn’t betrayal; it was a post-colonial civil war the Jews didn’t start and didn’t lose.

If someone still repeats this myth after seeing the facts, they’re not misinformed —

they’re invested in a narrative that survives only through ignorance.
